Re: Mother Teresa's Pain And Doubt, Aug. 25.
The amazing revelations of Mother Teresa's inner life have astonished many. It is sad to see that she missed the central message of Christianity. First, nuns are not the Bride of Christ but all those redeemed by the blood of Jesus are the bride of Christ. Secondly, she sought salvation by work when the Bible makes it clear that salvation is only achieved by faith alone in the work of Jesus Christ, accomplished once for all on the cross. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8)."
Pastor Brian Robinson, Faith Baptist Church, Toronto
My Response Letter
The letter writer must be ignorant of history or blatantly anti-Catholic for his remark that Blessed Mother Teresa "missed the central message of Christianity". How is it possible that this woman does not understand Christ, she who willingly dedicated more than 40 years of her life to serving - without exception - the poor, sick, dying, and orphaned in one of the least desirable places in the world?
