So Pope Benedict XVI says that he's made exploring the faith-reason relationship a key aspect of his papacy. Well, someone should explain to His Holiness that there's no faith, rhyme or reason in his statement that "homosexuality is as much of a threat to the survival of the human race as climate change."
There are a few things, such as an all-out nuclear war or rapid global warming, that might threaten human survival. But you'd have to be more than a little obtuse to believe that the few who are homosexual, and who have no more choice in their sexual orientation than the many who are heterosexual, pose any threat to our survival.

My Response Letter
The letter writer is ignorant.
First, he misquotes Pope Benedict XVI. The Holy Father did not state that "homosexuality is as much of a threat to the survival of the human race as climate change."
Instead, the Pope said
"When the Church speaks of the nature of the human being as man and woman and asks that this order of creation be respected, it is not the result of an outdated metaphysic. It is a question here of faith in the Creator and of listening to the language of creation, the devaluation of which leads to the self-destruction of man and therefore to the destruction of the same work of God."
Of course, homosexualist proponents and the media are content to distort and sensationalize in order to raise the ire of anyone with even a small animus towards the Pope and the Catholic Church.
Is it a surprise that this cabal of anti-papists are aghast that the Pope could state the logically obvious: a humanity that glorifies and deifies sexual gratification over procreation dooms itself to destruction? You do not need to be smarter than a pre-teen to realize that a species - animal or human - that accepts a sterile sexuality cannot survive.
People would do well to heed the words of the Pope: that the devaluation of man - through a distortion in gender and a warping of matrimony - "leads to the self-destruction of man and therefore to the destruction of the same work of God".
